The Ruger American Rifle Gen II in .22 ARC is a bolt-action centerfire rifle built for shooters who want precision and flexibility in an efficient low-recoiling cartridge. It pairs a cold hammer-forged 20-inch medium-contour barrel with Ruger’s Power Bedding integral bedding block system. This system positively locates the receiver and free-floats the barrel to deliver the kind of repeatable accuracy that makes the .22 ARC shine at distance. The barrel is deeply spiral-fluted to shed weight at the muzzle and improve balance without giving up stiffness. It also ships from the factory threaded 1/2×28 with a radial-port muzzle brake already installed so it is ready right out of the box.
The fit of the Gen II adapts to the individual shooter. The synthetic stock features a splatter finish that gives a secure positive grip without feeling harsh. The length of pull adjusts from 13.75 inches down to 12 inches simply by removing the installed spacer with additional spacers and comb options offered through ShopRuger.com. The installed low comb improves cheek weld and sight alignment behind magnified optics and can be pulled when running low-mounted iron sights.
The soft rubber recoil pad has a large heel radius that makes shouldering quick while progressively softening what little recoil the .22 ARC produces. For heavier muzzle setups an accessory stock weight kit that adds up to 1.6 pounds to the butt is available to rebalance the rifle.
Controls and mechanics are equally purpose-built. The Ruger Marksman Adjustable trigger breaks crisply and lets you set the pull weight between 3 and 5 pounds. The intuitive three-position tang safety locks the bolt and allows loading with the safety engaged. The one-piece bolt is CNC-machined from stainless steel with a familiar three-lug 70-degree throw for smooth cycling and generous scope clearance. The oversized bolt handle uses a 5/16″-24 thread pattern for easy swaps. A durable Cerakote finish protects the barrel muzzle brake receiver and bolt handle.
